Our research stands on three pillars:
HR is at the intersection of strategy and psychology, as indicated by the link of strategic human capital and HR with the organizational behavior domain. People analytics embraces methodologies that aim at identifying and quantifying the causal relationship between investments in people and human capital, behaviors, and firm success. Our research uses field data as well as lab and field experiments and favors econometric/quantitative methods, but is open for alternative approaches too.
The Institute for HCM is also a part of LMU’s Organizations Research Group (ORG). As such, we are open for interdisciplinary research that spans the strategy, technology, organizational economics, and HR domains. Both the institute for HCM and ORG place a strong emphasis on research and academic scholarship. We are committed to providing a strong research environment and culture, embracing regular research seminars and discussions with international researchers as well as additional courses for PhD students. Our publications reflect this attitude: Our team members have repeatedly published in top-tier outlets such as the Academy of Management Journal, Journal of Applied Psychology, Journal of Management, or Strategic Management Journal.
