I am a Professor of HRM at LMU Munich’s School of Management, where I am the Director of the Institute for Human Capital Management. I am also a Co-Director of LMU’s Organizations Research Group (ORG). Prior to joining LMU in late 2009, I completed my Habilitation at the Freie Universität Berlin (2009), and my Dr. rer. pol. (equivalent to Ph.D.) at the University of Flensburg (2004). In the summer and fall 2005, I was a visiting scholar at the University of Wisconsin—Madison. I earned my Master’s degree (Dipl.-Kfm.) in Business Administration from the University of Paderborn (1998).

My research interests include strategic human resource management and strategic human capital research, matching processes, and people analytics. Typically, my work takes a large-scale quantitative approach and uses field data and experimental approaches. My work has appeared in journals such as the Academy of Management Journal, Journal of Applied Psychology, and Strategic Management Journal, and handbooks like the Oxford Handbook of Recruitment and the Handbook of Comparative Human Resource Management. Together with Torsten Biemann (University of Mannheim), Dirk Sliwka (University of Cologne), and Florian Englmaier (LMU), I entertain a people analytics blog (

I am married and have two daughters. In my free time, I love all types of rock climbing and bouldering, and/or run a marathon from time to time.
